Dennis Bergkamp brands newborn grandson ‘a Gooner for life’

Dennis Bergkamp has branded his newborn grandson ‘a Gooner for life’ – despite his father being a Manchester United player.

Bergkamp’s daughter, Estelle, gave birth to a son last month and posed next to the former forward’s statue outside the Emirates with the baby in an Arsenal shirt with ‘Bergkamp 10’ on the back.

The Dutchman shared the imagine on his Instagram account with the caption: ‘My grandson, a Gooner for life.’

Bergkamp is one of Arsenal’s greatest-ever players, playing for the club between 1995 and 2006, making several hundred appearances and being part of the Invincibles side.

Estelle, however, is the partner of Donny Van de Beek, who is still a contracted Manchester United player.

Van de Beek joined United in 2020 but has made few appearances, being sent on loan to the likes of Everton and currently Frankfurt.

Having married Estelle, the couple had a daughter in April 2022 and their second child was born in February.

His future undoubtedly lies away from Old Trafford, though it appeared he had little say in who his son will be supporting.

Ian Wright was among those to reply to the post, sharing a number of red love hearts below Bergkamp’s Instagram post.
