Tottenham are considering a bid for Nottingham Forest forward Callum Hudson-Odoi, according to a report.
Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou is looking to continue rebuilding his squad this summer with a heavy turnover expected in the transfer window as he bids to improve on this season’s fifth-place Premier League finish.
The likes of Japhet Tanganga and Sergio Reguilon are set to depart the club, while Postecoglou’s side could also face bids for the likes of Richarlison and Yves Bissouma.
Though there will be plenty of outgoings, there will likely be a number of arrivals too, and Hudson-Odoi, 23, could be one of the first names to walk through the door in North London.
According to The Guardian, Tottenham have the forward on a wish list of targets having reportedly rejected the chance to sign him last summer.
Hudson-Odoi left Chelsea last summer after 16 years with the Blues, having made 126 appearances for the club during what was a hit-and-miss stay.
Having rejected a bid of £70million from Bayern Munich for the winger in 2020, they eventually parted ways for a measly fee of around £3million in the summer as he moved to Forest.
In his debut season with the club, he became a key player, netting eight times in 35 games for the club as they narrowly avoided relegation.
He now appears to be attracting interest from teams higher up the table, however, with Spurs said to have changed their opinion on him after passing up the opportunity to sign him a year ago, and he could now cost more than the fee Forest secured him for a year ago.
Reports suggest the former Bayer Leverkusen loanee was offered to Spurs by Chelsea, but Postecoglou’s side instead signed Brennan Johnson from Hudson-Odoi’s current club for £47.5m.
Johnson netted five times and picked up 10 assists in his debut campaign with Spurs, but the club are looking to boost their depth out wide after resources were stretched during the 2023-24 campaign.
Now in Europe, Manor Solomon could leave while it is unclear if Timo Werner’s loan will be made permanent, meaning it is almost certain that they club will dip into the transfer market.
Postecoglou, meanwhile, is looking to get players through the door early so he can get his Champions League push up and running early on ahead of next season.
‘t is important,’ he said of early business, speaking to Football London. ‘I think it works better. Last year it certainly benefited us in having a couple of players in early to be with the whole squad.
‘Again, looking at the schedule this year with international commitments, we’re not going to get them all back for the start of pre-season, but if we can get ones in early. It’s easier said than done. Everyone wants to get business done early, everyone is keen to bring players in but the reality is that it takes a little bit of time.
‘The good thing for us is that we know what we need to do, we’ve had the plan in place for a while and it’s just about now going through that process.’
