Liverpool transfer round-up: Ederson eyed as emotional Philippe Coutinho return planned

Liverpool have their new manager and are now turning their attention to the transfer window.

Arne Slot has been entrusted with the reins that served Jurgen Klopp so successfully at Anfield. The Dutchman is sure to have his own targets in mind as he prepares for his first window in the hot seat.

He might be welcoming a host of new faces to Anfield over the next few months as he attempts to build on Jurgen Klopp’s work. A number of stars have already been linked with switches to Liverpool.

Elsewhere, a few current Reds stars have been touted for surprise exits over the coming weeks. Find out all of the latest headlines below:

Former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho could be set for a return to his homeland. Reports have claimed that Brazilian side Vasco da Gama are interested in signing the playmaker and negotiations are already advanced.

Coutinho, 31, has endured a tricky time of things since leaving Liverpool for Barcelona. He has represented Bayern Munich, Aston Villa and Qatari side Al-Duhail since then.

Coutinho – who is still a Villa player – began his career with Vasco da Gama but was picked up by Italian giants Inter Milan when he was just 16. His contract in the West Midlands is due to run until the summer of 2026.

Speaking of Brazilian internationals, Liverpool are reportedly interested in Coutinho’s compatriot Ederson – no, not that one. According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, the Reds were impressed by the performance of Atalanta midfielder Ederson while they were scouting his teammate Teun Koopmeiners.

It is suggested that the 24-year-old left Reds officials convinced and they are now tempted to make a move. Ederson has made 52 appearances for the Europa League winners this season – scoring on seven occasions.

He has three years left on his contract with the Serie A side. Should Liverpool pursue a move, that could see them drop their interest in Koopmeiners – who is being eyed by Juventus.

Former Liverpool star Joel Matip is keen to stay in the Premier League following his exit from Anfield. The defender departed the club at the expiry of his contract.

However, he could potentially be lining up against his former employers next season. According to the Express, Matip is keen to stay in England.

It is suggested that he remains confident in his ability to regain his full fitness after a serious knee injury. He also believes he can still meet the demands of Premier League football.
