Jules Kounde splits opinion after turning up to France duty in HEELS

France star Jules Kounde has divided opinion after he was pictured arriving at the pre-Euro 2024 training camps wearing heels.

The Barcelona defender arrived at France’s Clairefontaine base to join up with his team-mates having been named in the 25-man squad.

Kounde, who was seen carrying a Louis Vuitton bag, received attention from fans on social media for another fashion choice.

One fan compared the 25-year-old’s decision to wear heels to a famous clip of Ricky Gervais’ character David Brent in The Office.

Brent memorably quipped ‘You can still find ’em’ having been told ‘You don’t see heels like that much nowadays after placing heeled boots on top of a desk in a meeting.

‘Good to see Brentcore is alive and well,’ one fan wrote in response to a photo of Kounde.

Fans were split over Kounde’s latest look, with some supportive of the 25-year-old wearing heels.

One labelled Kounde as a ‘fashion icon’, while another declared that he ‘cooks every time’.

Others were left unconvinced with one fan sharing a of compilation of football managers and pundits declaring that ‘the game’s gone’.

Another declared that Kounde was wearing an ‘interesting outfit’, while one openly mocked his style by stating ‘this can’t be your defender.

Regardless of his fashion choices, Kounde could prove to be a important player for France at the upcoming European Championship in Germany.

Kounde has made 26 appearances for his nation having made his debut make in 2021.

He has operated at right back under manager Didier Deschamps, but also gives the national team another option in central defence.

France last won a European Championship in 2000, and were knocked out in the round of 16 three years ago after defeat to Switzerland on penalties at the National Arena in Bucharest.

The national team will warm-up for the tournament with two friendlies, with the first coming against Luxembourg on June 5.

A second friendly against Canada will take place on June 9 as France hone their preparations.

France have been drawn into Group D alongside Poland, Holland, and their first opponents Austria

Deschamps’ side will launch their Euros campaign in Dusseldorf on June 17.
