Future of 20-year-old Barcelona star unclear following Xavi Hernandez departure

Alex Valle’s loan spell at Levante comes to an end this weekend, after which he will head back to Barcelona. However, it’s far from certain that where he will be for next season, following the change of manager at the Catalan giants.

While Xavi Hernandez was still in charge, Valle had been expected to make the jump to the first team, having been counted on by the 44-year-old. However, Xavi’s sacking has now left the situation unclear, especially as Valle has received no word from anyone at Barcelona as to what their intentions for him are, as per MD.

As it the case for many of Barcelona’s players, Valle’s situation will be clarified by Hansi Flick, who will begin work once he returns from holiday in the next week or so. It’s worth noting that the 20-year-old is out of contract in 2025, so he could be a prime candidate to be sold if there are no plans to offer a renewal.

Barcelona are looking for a new backup left-back, with Alejandro Balde set to be the main man for Flick. Valle has previously been touted with holding that position, but now it’s not clear whether he is part of the plans going forward.
