PLAYER RATINGS: Noni Madueke stars for an abject Chelsea

Oli McBurnie’s stoppage time goal gave Sheffield United a point against an abject Chelsea team at Bramall Lane.

Thiago Silva came into a changed defensive line-up for the visitors, and rewarded Mauricio Pochettino’s faith by opening the scoring with a volley from a corner after 11 minutes.

However, the Blades equalised just after the half-hour mark, when Jayden Bogle made a precise strike past Dorde Petrovic in the Chelsea goal.

Noni Madueke cut inside after receiving a pass from Cole Palmer, and dispatched a left-footed strike into the Blades’ net, but the Blues couldn’t hold on, with McBurnie getting a draw for the Blades three minutes into stoppage time.

Here’s MailSport’s match ratings after Sheffield United 2-2 Chelsea:

Chelsea (4-2-3-1)

Dorde Petrovic – 5 – Not tested very often, but not able to stop Bogle’s first-half goal, or McBurnie’s stoppage time equaliser.

Axel Disasi – 5.5 – Moved to right-back in Pochettino’s changed defence, but not able to make much of a difference.

Thiago Silva – 6.5 – Got the nod over Badiashile, and proved his selection by scoring a volley after 11 minutes from Gallagher’s corner.

Trevoh Chalobah – 6 – Booked in the first half for a high boot, but otherwise solid in the centre of a change defence.

Marc Cucurella – 6.5 – Relatively untroubled at the right-hand side of the defence, until he made a cynical late challenge and got booked for his troubles.

Moises Caicedo – 5 – Made a key block to deny Brereton Diaz a golden opportunity to equalise, but otherwise struggled.

Enzo Fernandez – 6 – Another solid but not spectacular in the heart of the Chelsea team.

Cole Palmer – 6.5 – Made another of his customary contributions to the Chelsea side by turning provider for Madueke, before being replaced by Chukwuemeka.

Conor Gallagher – 6.5 – His corner-kick found Silva unmarked in the middle of the box, in a rare highlight for the Blues star.

Noni Madueke – 7.5 – Came in for Mudryk in the Blues attacking line, and proved to be a star man, getting Chelsea’s second goal.

Nicolas Jackson – 6.5 – The Senegalese striker was not able to do much up front, and was replaced by Casadei in stoppage time.

Substitutes: Chukwuemeka (for Palmer 74′) – 6 -Brought on for Palmer, but not able to effect much of a change.

Manager: Mauricio Pochettino – 6.5 – Not a dominant Blues performance, and maybe would have been lucky to have got back-to-back wins.

Sheffield United (3-5-2): Grbic 5; Holgate 5 (McAtee 76), Ahmedhodzic 5, Robinson 5; Bogle 6, Hamer 7, Arblaster 6, Osborn 6, Trusty 6; McBurnie 6.5, Brereton Diaz 6.5
