Potter holds talks with Ajax with former Chelsea boss keeping his options open

Graham Potter has held talks with Ajax and is keeping his options open ahead of a return to management.

The 48-year old former Chelsea boss remains on a wish list of candidates for the struggling Dutch giants and has yet to turn anything down. However, Potter wants to be careful about his next choice particularly after his experience at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea had initially appointed Potter for the long-term but their outlook changed as the pressure mounted over faltering results. The future of current incumbent Mauricio Pochettino is under scrutiny for the same reasons now.

With that in mind, Potter is looking for the right club with a clear strategy and is happy to remain patient until he finds the right fit.

Ajax made their approach earlier this year and other high profile clubs have also spoken to the former Brighton manager as they consider changes to their leadership this summer.

Ajax suffered a humiliating 6-0 defeat to rivals Feyenoord on Sunday are currently sixth in the table – 33 points behind leaders PSV Eindhoven.

Their supervisory board have also suspended chief executive Alex Kroes pending an internal investigation over his acquisition of shares in the club.
