Harry Kane is only BOOKED for elbowing Arsenal’s Gabriel in the face

Harry Kane was booked for elbowing Gabriel in the face while tussling for a header – but some fans believe the England captain should have been sent off for the offence.

The incident happened in the 55th minute of Bayern Munich’s Champions League quarter-final first-leg at Arsenal, with Kane shown the yellow card for his actions.

But video replays, particularly in slow motion, suggest that the elbow was more malicious than initially thought, and could have led to the Englishman’s dismissal in North London.

Fans on X (formerly Twitter) were also vocal with their questioning of the referee’s decision, with one writing: ‘Harry Kane looks where he’s about to plant his elbow. How is that not a red?’

‘That’s a red card for Kane. Elbow on the throat’ wrote a second, while another added: ‘If you’re saying the elbow from Kane is deliberate enough for a yellow, surely it has to be red?!’

‘HOW’S THIS NOT A RED CARD FOR KANE’, fumed one Arsenal fan.

Another wrote ‘I’m sorry but that’s a clear RED for Kane’, adding ‘Looks at Gabriel approaching and the arm goes out at that exact time’.

The game finished 2-2, leaving the game finely poised going into next Wednesday’s return leg at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

Bukayo Saka put the hosts ahead in London, before Serge Gnabry equalised, and Kane scored a penalty to put Bayern in front at half-time.

Substitute Leandro Trossard levelled the tie 15 minutes from the end with a first-time strike into the bottom corner.
