Chelsea top new PL table on spending on players’ agents after splashing £75m

Premier League clubs paid £409.59million in agents’ fees in the last two transfer windows, with Chelsea topping the table after forking out £75.14m, figures from the Football Association have revealed.

It means Chelsea’s lavish spending last summer has seen them overtake Manchester City for money handed to intermediaries, having signed players such as Moises Caicedo, Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Romeo Lavia and more.

The figures cover the period from February 1, 2023 to February 1, 2024.

After Chelsea, City spent £60.63m, Manchester United £34.05m, Liverpool £31.50m, and Arsenal £24.76m.

At the other end of the table, Luton paid the least money to agents, spending only £2.02m as they look to secure survival this season.

Last year, City paid the most – £51.56m – after signing the likes of Erling Haaland. Now, Chelsea are top, though their remarkable expenditure has not helped them rise up the Premier League as hoped.
