Ten Hag faces being axed by Man United despite reaching the FA Cup final

Erik ten Hag reportedly faces being axed by Manchester United at the end of the season with their penalty shoot-out win over Coventry viewed as the ‘last straw’.

According to The Sun, the Dutchman’s fate has been sealed after Man United fans streamed for the exit at full-time despite reaching the FA Cup final after a 4-2 shoot-out win over the Championship side.

The Red Devils scraped through having led 3-0 at Wembley, only for Coventry to fight back to force the tie to extra time and penalties.

A significant number of fans had left by the time Rasmus Hojlund converted the winning kick, and more empty seats soon opened up after Man United booked their place in the final.

Coventry supporters, notably, made by the majority of fans left in Wembley after the match despite suffering penalty shoot-out heartbreak.

The second-half collapse had played out in front of minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, fresh from a personal best time in the London Marathon.

His trusted aide Sir Dave Brailsford and new technical director Jason Wilcox were also present, along with rare appearances for Avram and Joel Glazer.

The Sun reported that it is increasingly unlikely Ten Hag will remain in charge at the end of the season.

The Dutchman’s future has reportedly been settled regardless of whether Man United win the FA Cup on May 25.

Man United face a repeat of last year’s final against rivals Manchester City at Wembley.
