England’s Euro 2024 opponents unveil stunning state-of-the-art ‘garden stadium’

Serbia have unveiled new ambitious plans for a state-of-the-art national football stadium that features a world-first ‘garden’ design littered with trees and greenery.

The Eagles will come head-to-head with England at the upcoming European Championship in Germany as they occupy Group C alongside the Three Lions, Slovenia and Denmark.

Ahead of the tournament they have revealed plans for a magnificent new stadium on the outskirts of the Serbian capital of Belgrade that boasts a striking new design incorporating an eco-friendly approach.

Plans for the 52,000-seater ground showcase an aptly named ‘garden’ design that see’s trees and shrubbery encompass three levels of the stadium.

Construction on the new project is set to get underway soon and the stadium is set to be completed by December 1, 2026 in the aftermath of the next FIFA World Cup.

Architect designs show a four-ring stadium supported by cables and adorned with hundreds of trees and bushes that provides a futuristic garden look.

Serbia currently play the majority of their games at Red Star’s Belgrade, Rajko Mitic Stadium, and will move to their new premises that will be capable of hosting 52,000 spectators.

A future public vote is set to decide upon the name of the new national team premises.

Areas outside the ground are also set for luxury installations that will boast restaurants, parks, a water sports centre and golf courses to provide a brilliant fan experience.

A Spanish architectural firm that designed three of the 2022 Qatar World Cup stadiums have drafted up the new eye-catching plans that Serbia have now adopted for their new ground.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic visited the site that the new stadium will be built on and revealed his belief that it will be one of the top three most ‘beautiful’ locations to play football in the world.

‘Today is a big day for football. Today is a day we should all rejoice,’ he said.

‘We will get a magnificent building which is currently and which in the coming period will be the most beautiful or among the three most beautiful stadiums [in the world].’
