Real Madrid star ‘is being lined up to join Lionel Messi at Inter Miami’

Real Madrid could reportedly lose one of their star players to Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami this summer.

The Spanish giants still have two games remaining this season, with Carlo Ancelotti’s men set to host Real Betis in LaLiga on Saturday ahead of next weekend’s Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund.

But the summer transfer window will open shortly, and one member of the Madrid squad looks certain to leave after the match at Wembley.

Central defender Nacho, 34, is out of contract next month, and is wanted by Inter Miami, according to Relevo.

The Spanish international has not officially confirmed his departure from the Bernabeu yet, but he is widely expected to move on at the end of the season.

Inter Miami, owned by David Beckham, are ready to pounce, with the MLS outfit keen to bring Nacho over to the US to play alongside Messi.

Nacho’s interest in moving to Inter Miami is not yet clear, with the centre back fully focused on trying to win a 15th European Cup with Madrid.

His attention will turn to his future after next week, though, and there is room in Inter Miami’s squad for him.

He could join the club as a TAM (Target Allocated Money) player, which would see him put on a similar contract to ex-Barcelona full back Jordi Alba.

Alternatively, he could take Leonardo Campana’s spot as a franchise player, with Campana becoming a TAM player instead.

MLS sides are designated three franchise player slots in their squad, and the other two are currently occupied by Messi and Sergio Busquets.

Nacho would be a welcome addition for Inter Miami, especially as they are currently a defender down after Nicolas Freire suffered a serious knee injury.

He would bring plenty of experience after making 362 appearances for Madrid since his debut back in 2011, and he has captained the team for much of this season.

There is still the possibility that Nacho could finish his career as a one-club man if he opts to walk away from the sport at the end of the season, but the option to join Inter Miami could prove too tempting.

Inter Miami currently sit top of the Eastern Conference after picking up 31 points from their first 15 games.
