New Barcelona manager Hansi Flick to open talks with transfer target despite Deco doubts

New Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has reportedly accepted the difficulties of the financial situation at the club, but has already decided on the first move he will make regarding the transfer market.

According to Sport, he will hold a face to face meeting with Joshua Kimmich to explain his plans, and try to persuade him to sign for Barcelona this summer. Kimmich is currently in talks with Bayern over a new deal, but could be sold if no deal is found. The 29-year-old’s priority is to play in midfield, and he also wants to hear out new Bayern manager Vincent Kompany.

This is despite reports that Kimmich was off the table as an option for the Blaugrana, after he turned down their first offer. Sporting Director Deco has also expressed doubts about Kimmich, reporting to the club that he can be disruptive element within the dressing room.

Sporting Director Deco is under pressure to carry out a successful transfer window, his first full summer in charge of recruitment, after the thus far disappointing Vitor Roque deal. A pivot was highlighted as the club’s top target over the past few months, but beyond Guido Rodriguez and Kimmich, there appears to be little in the way of options.
