Ibrahima Konaté and Upamecano to be preferred to William Saliba at EURO 2024

According to L’Équipe, Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté (25) and Bayern’s Dayot Upamecano (25) are set to be preferred to Arsenal’s William Saliba (23) in defence by Didier Deschamps at EURO 2024.

With EURO 2024 in Germany fast approaching, conversations are starting to emerge over the different selection headaches for France boss Deschamps. One of these is in central defence with a luxury of options available to the former Marseille manager.

Often unfavoured by Deschamps, William Saliba looks set to miss out on a starting berth once again for Les Bleus. The France boss is set to select a more tried and tested partnership in Konaté and Upamecano meaning the Arsenal defender will likely have to settle for a place on the bench. The Liverpool and Bayern Munich defenders formed an impressive partnership during their time at RB Leipzig and this looks set to continue as they represent their country at this summer’s European Championships in Germany.
