Tottenham winger Kulusevski hits out at post-season friendly against Newcastle

Tottenham’s post-season friendly against Newcastle in Australia was met with plenty of criticism and Dejan Kulusevski admits he was far from happy about taking part in it.

Both Ange Postecoglou’s and Eddie Howe’s squads were spotted boarding planes just mere hours after their final day matches so they could make it to the other side of the world to partake in the exhibition game in Melbourne.

The match ultimately ended in a 1-1 draw with the Magpies winning on penatlies in front of an impressive crowd of 80,000.

The match was described as pure ‘madness’ by Alan Shearer, with the fixture also receiving a negative response from England boss Gareth Southgate.

And Kulusevski has now said that he agreed with the general consensus.

‘It was hard, but sometimes you just have to accept that you can’t decide everything in life,’ said the Swede, as reported by Fotbollskanalen (via Sport Witness).

‘The club made the decision that we had to go there and then I had to make the best of the situation.

‘Of course it was tough. It was hard to accept, but nothing can be done. Others decide.’
