Arsenal news: Arteta told to complete double deal as defender reveals exit plan

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has work to do in the transfer market as he plots another Premier League title assault.

The Gunners were pipped to the domestic crown by Manchester City for a second successive season, and it’s been widely reported that Arteta has his sights set on a new striker to help his side dethrone the champions next year.

The Gunners may be just as busy in terms of outgoings, too, with a number of squad players already attracting interest. And although Arsenal have cash to spend, the opportunity to raise further transfer funds through player trading is likely to appeal.

With the transfer window set to open next week, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest transfer news from the Emirates…

Arteta told to do double deal

Mikel Arteta has been told he should go all out to sign Marcus Rashford AND Raphael Varane this summer by Bacary Sagna.

Rashford has endured a difficult season at Manchester United and been linked with a move away whilst Varane is a free agent after being released by the Red Devils.

Sagna, the former Arsenal and Manchester City defender, believes that Arteta should try and sign both players this summer in a bid to take the Londoners to the next level.

Defender reveals exit plan

Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has teased a future move to Corinthians.

The Brazilian centre-back has established himself as one of Arsenal’s most important players under Mikel Arteta but was linked with a blockbuster transfer to the Saudi Pro League last summer.

And while that move did not materialise, Gabriel has revealed that he is ultra keen to return to his homeland and play for Corinthians at some point in the future.

Hato rules out Arsenal move

Ajax defender Jorrel Hato has seemingly ruled out a summer transfer despite strong interest in his services from the Premier League.

The talented Dutchman evolved into an integral player for Ajax last season and was linked with Arsenal back in January. The Gunners are believed to be long-term admirers of the versatile defender.

But Hato has no plans to move on – yet. When asked about a potential summer move, he told AjaxLife: “No, I’ll just play for Ajax next season. I haven’t finished learning here yet. And I want to win prizes with Ajax. That was my dream when I came here.”
