Managers might be the hottest commodity in the Premier League right now but it looks like several Premier League clubs are in desperate need of a striker and could delve into the market to sign one.

Chelsea are one side who will need to bolster their options up top. Last summer’s £32million signing Nicolas Jackson was slow to get going but finished his 2023-24 campaign strongly with 17 goals. But it seems he is still adjusting to the pace of the top-flight and Chelsea appear keen on acquiring another striker.

Arsenal may have edged Manchester City to win their first Premier League title since 2004 if they had a striker available and firing throughout the full duration of the campaign. While Kai Havertz shone in the later parts of the season for Mikel Arteta’s side, they too appear keen to add to their striker stocks.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are another club who need a new forward. Rasmus Hojlund, like Jackson, took time to warm up to the Premier League – but has struggled with injuries. With Marcus Rashford going off the boil and Anthony Martial leaving Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag may also be set to enter the market.

But who is available? Which striker suits which club the best? And who can be bought for the best price? Mail Sport takes a look at five top forwards who could be snapped up this summer.

Benjamin Sesko

If there is one player you should pick to watch at this summer’s European Championship, it is Slovenian forward Sesko.

England fans will certainly get a good chance to watch him in action, with the 6ft 3in target out to cause an upset against the Three Lions on June 16.

The 21-year-old, who plies his trade at RB Leipzig, is one of the Bundesliga’s most promising young stars and has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal. But the striker, who scored 18 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions for Leipzig in his first season at the club, could be available for around £45m this summer.

In a blow for many clubs around Europe’s top five leagues, it appears Arsenal may be closing in on a deal for the Leipzig forward. While Man United and Chelsea have expressed an interest in the 20-year-old, The Mirror claims he has already ‘said yes to Arsenal’ who sit in pole position to sign him.

That could be a huge acquisition for Arteta’s side, in terms of adding that missing piece of the jigsaw to finally kick on and win the Premier League.

Victor Osimhen

It is that time of year again that speculation starts to circulate around the future of Napoli star Victor Osimhen.

But this feels like a transfer saga that will soon be coming to an end. With his contract expiring in 2026, the Serie A side will no doubt be keen to cash in on their 26-year-old striker who has 17 goals in all appearances this season.

Earlier in January, the forward, who was integral to Napoli’s 2022-23 Scudetto victory did little to quell growing rumours over a potential move to the Premier League – stating he had ‘made up his mind’ over his future.

There has previously been much talk that he could join Chelsea, with the Blues making ‘first contact’ with Napoli over the striker’s future.

Arsenal also have also been interested in signing him, but the Serie A side are asking for a big sum for the Nigerian forward, of around £150million.

Alexander Isak

Newcastle will no doubt be desperate to hang onto their star striker next season, with the Sweden international having scored an impressive 25 goals across all competitions this season.

At 24 years old, not many can say they have adapted to the Premier League quite as well as he has, following his move from Real Sociedad in 2022.

Yet, with Newcastle’s financial restrictions causing concerns that they may need to offload a few players, there may be some heads turning should a big offer come in for Isak, with Newcastle bracing for bids of around £100m from Arsenal and Tottenham.

Ollie Watkins

The man of the moment, it seems. Watkins has enjoyed a sensational season and his scoring form has been a huge part in helping Aston Villa secure a berth in the Champions League next season.

The England star has scored 27 goals across all competitions this season, including 18 in the Premier League and his brilliant goalscoring form has seen him rewarded with a spot in Gareth Southgate’s final Euro 2024 squad.

Like Newcastle and Isak, Unai Emery will also be keen to hang onto his star man ahead of their European campaign next season.

In fact, it appears Liverpool could be interested in snapping him up, with The Sun claiming Arne Slot wants to snap him up.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Everton have already shut down claims that they may be set to conduct a firesale of some of their key stars.

They are currently trying to ward off competition for their star defender Jarrad Branthwaite and they may have to also do the same for Calvert-Lewin too.

Despite his mixed form in recent seasons, which has come amid injury woes, Calvert-Lewin finished the 2023-24 Premier League season very strongly and will have put several clubs on alert over his future.

Mail Sport revealed on Thursday that Chelsea were monitoring the Everton forward, with Enzo Maresca’s side assessing him as a prime target this summer.

Everton, meanwhile, have offered the striker a new deal and are keen to lock him down on a longer contract.
