Man Utd transfer news: Ratcliffe holds Tuchel meeting as prime target identified

Manchester United will be aiming to improve next season after a dismal campaign.

The Red Devils endured their worst-ever Premier League season under Erik ten Hag but did manage to lift the FA Cup. That has left Sir Jim Ratcliffe with a tricky decision relating to their current manager.

The Dutchman faces an uncertain future at Old Tafford. Potential replacements for him have been touted months ahead of 2024/25 getting underway.

Meanwhile, a number of possible transfer targets have also been linked. Take a look at all the latest rumours when it comes to transfers and the managerial hot seat…

Kicking off with questions over Ten Hag’s future, it appears that Jim Ratcliffe is already talking to possible successors.

According to Bild, the INEOS owner held a meeting with former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel about taking over at Old Trafford. It is suggested that the pair met in Monaco.

Tuchel spoke about the plans he had in case he replaced Ten Hag at the helm. He apparently revealed details about how he would solve Jadon Sancho’s situation at the club, while he also detailed how he would unlock Mason Mount’s potential.

Tuchel recently left Bayern Munich. He was replaced by ex-Burnley boss Vincent Kompany at the Allianz Arena.

While it remains to be seen whether Tuchel arrives at Old Trafford, it appears that the club hierarchy already know one man they want to sign. According to The Sun, the Red Devils have identified Crystal Palace winger Eberechi Eze as a summer recruit.

It is suggested that Man United are going head-to-head with Tottenham for the signing of the winger. The club’s new minority owners want to make him the club’s marquee signing this summer.

However, the North London side look to be taking the lead in the race, with his agents having good connections with Spurs. Eze has a £60m release clause written into his current contract.

Away from Eze, Man United still have Bologna star Joshua Zirkzee on their shortlist. The Dutchman has regularly been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

As per Sky Sports, the Red Devils are still monitoring him ahead of a potential move. Premier League rivals Arsenal are also contenders for his services.

The pair could face competition from abroad with AC Milan also pushing to sign him. Zirkzee has a £34m release clause written into his Bologna deal.
