Liverpool’s Hungarian midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai struggled to make an impact as Switzerland took an early lead through 27-year-old striker Kwadwo Duah.

Defensive midfielder Michel Aebischer doubled his side’s lead on the stroke of half-time as Switzerland continued to unlock Hungary’s unorganised defense.

The Swiss showed promising signs of adding a third at the start of the second half but gave their opponents a lifeline when veteran striker Barnabas Varga scored with just over 20 minutes remaining.

Switzerland managed to navigate their way through a tricky final spell to hold onto their lead and pick up a vital three points in a group also containing Scotland and Germany.
