Kylian Mbappé expects to be booed at the Vélodrome

With just days to go until Le Classique, Kylian Mbappé (25) has said that he expects to be booed when France take on Chile at the Vélodrome on Tuesday.

Paris Saint-Germain face Olympique de Marseille on Sunday and with just days to go before that hotly-contested fixture, PSG players are expecting a rude response from fans at the Vélodrome. Whilst Didier Deschamps has said that he “is always happy to return to Marseille,” a city in which he is managed, the same cannot necessarily be said of the PSG squad.

Players such as William Saliba, currently at Arsenal, Mattéo Guendouzi and Jonathan Clauss, who is still playing for Les Phocéens, can expect a warm welcome from the Vélodrome crowd, but France’s five PSG players are expecting to be booed.

Lucas Hernandez, Warren Zaïre-Emery, Ousmane Dembélé, Randal Kolo Muani and Mbappé are all in the squad, and it is expected that the latter two will start against Chile. “If I’m not booed, I’d be pleasantly surprised,” Mbappé told Téléfoot on Sunday. For some of France’s players, it may therefore feel like an away match, just days away from Le Classique.
