Man Utd dealt a blow in pursuit of in-demand Bologna striker Zirkzee

Manchester United have suffered a blow in their pursuit of a talented Serie A striker.

AC Milan also have ‘concrete interest’ in the player, who scored eleven league goals last season.

United’s pursuit of the star has been complicated by the fact that his club are demanding a high fee, with ‘high commissions’ also likely to be involved.

Erik ten Hag is eager to add to his United squad after the club decided to keep faith with him as manager.

The player in question has been called up by his country for Euro 2024.

Joshua Zirkzee is a player in demand after his impressive displays for Bologna.

Last season Zirkzee caught the eye as he scored 12 goals in all competitions, while his link up play was also of a high standard as he provided seven assists.

As reported by Sky Sport Germany, United are aware that signing Zirkzee will be complicated given the fee that Bologna are demanding for him. AC Milan’s interest in Zirkzee is another problem.

United are eager to bring in a new forward who could provide an alternative option to Rasmus Hojlund.

At the age of 23, Zirkzee has plenty of time to develop further, while he also received a late call up to the Netherlands squad for Euro 2024.

Zirkzee was previously at Bayern Munich and scored four goals in 17 senior games for the German giants.
