Barnabás Varga injured in Scotland – Hungary in Euro 2024: what happened?

The Hungary player went down after a challenge in the second half.

Hungarian player Barnabás Varga went down injured in the second half of their game against Scotland in their final Euro 20204 group game.

A free-kick was sent in from the left and a clash between the Hungary goalkeeper, a Scotland player and Varga himself sent the Ferencváros forward crashing to the ground following a challenge for the ball.

Play was immediately stopped and paramedics rushed onto the scene, where a brown tent was erected around the player. The faces of the players, fans and technical staff, given that the medical work could not be seen, told a story of horror and worry as he received treatment.

Soon after, he was stretchered off the pitch and presumably taken to the nearest hospital for urgent care. Nothing is known at this time how he is doing in terms of a recovery.
