Newcastle United’s Loris Karius tied the knot with Italian sports presenter Diletta Leotta in a stunning ceremony in Vulcano Island, Sicily on Saturday.
The goalkeeper, 31, shared a kiss with his wife as the newly wed couple wrapped their arms tightly around each other in front of their 160 guests.
The pair exchanged vows in front of the stunning view of the Tyrrhenian Sea alongside their daughter Aria who turns one in August.
They were also joined by friends including Elisabetta Canalis, Michelle Hunziker, and Elodie and Eleonora Berlusconi at the extravagant ceremony at the the five-star Therasia Resort.
Diletta, 32, looked stunning as she opted for a long-sleeved backless wedding dress with intricate lace detailing.
The corset style bodice flowed into a floaty skirt while the lace detailing ran down her arms into a pair of gloves.
Scraping her blonde locks back in a tight bun, she added a Atelier Eme veil emblazoned with the phrase ‘All I ever wanted’.
Meanwhile Loris, who wed on the day of his 31st birthday, opted for a tuxedo with a white jacket, while his blonde hair was also tied up away from his face.
Accompanied by her father, Diletta walked down the aisle to John Legend’s All of Me.
The pair beamed as they stood to say their vows while surrounded by masses of white flowers.
Diletta also shared photos from the big day on her Instagram on Monday after the celebratory weekend.
Earlier this year Diletta implored Loris to consider her homeland as his next career destination so he could be closer to her and their daughter, even suggesting a potential club for him to join.
‘Loris has people at his side who work for him,’ she told Italian newspaper Tuttosport. ‘I hope he makes the best decision for his career.
‘I live in Milan, so let’s say being close to Milan would be ideal for us. I always tell him, players who come to Serie A then fall in love with Italy and often stay there forever. I think that could happen to him too.
‘[He should join] Monza or any other team in Italy. I would be happy if he came to Italy to play near his family.
‘Newcastle is very inconvenient because there are no direct flights. Neither about Paris nor about Amsterdam.’
Diletta and Loris began dating in October 2022 before getting engaged the following year but have remained long-distance due to their career commitments.
After spending time in Manchester City’s youth academy, Loris began his senior career with German side Mainz. He made 96 appearances for the Bundesliga side before joining Liverpool.
Signed by Jurgen Klopp to succeed Simon Mignolet, the German struggled to maintain the consistency that had made him so successful in his native country.
Despite starting his second season at Anfield as the club’s No 2, Loris would be ever present as Klopp’s burgeoning side reached the final of the Champions League for the first time in over a decade.
Unfortunately for him that night in Kyiv would prove to the nadir of Loris’ football career as he made a pair of high-profile mistakes that both led to goals as the Reds fell to a 3-1 defeat against Real Madrid.
Though it later emerged that Loris had suffered a concussion prior to the errors, he never played another competitive fixture for Liverpool, as they broke the world record transfer fee for a goalkeeper to sign Alisson for £66.8million months later.
After his contract on Merseyside expired, Loris joined Newcastle to serve as the club’s third-choice goalkeeper in 2022.
With Nick Pope suspended and Martin Dubravka cup-tied, Loris made his first appearance for the Magpies in their EFL Cup final loss to Man United at Wembley.
The former Germany youth international was again called upon for Newcastle’s clash with Arsenal in February, earning praise for his performance despite a 4-1 defeat.
Loris’ deal at St James’ Park is set to expire at the end of the month and he will become a free agent after the club decided not to offer him a new contract.
