Tottenham handed transfer dilemma with Daniel Levy set to miss out on £13million sale

Tottenham will have to find yet another solution for club-record signing Tanguy Ndombele this summer with Galatasaray expected to pass on their £13million buy option.

The £63m flop has started just three matches for the Turkish giants in 2024 and his underwhelming loan spell in Istanbul has failed to pay dividends for both the club and the player.

Back in October, reports in Turkey claimed Ndombele had clashed with Galatasaray boss Okan Buruk, who had wanted the Frenchman to lose weight to bolster his chances of nailing down a starting berth at RAMS Park.

Yet the former Lyon maestro has struggled to turn his fortunes around following a series of fitness struggles, denting Tottenham’s hopes of recouping a credible fee.

Ndombele will only have 12 months left to run on his Tottenham contract when he returns to north London this summer meaning Spurs are at risk of losing him on a free transfer if they cannot find a buyer.

It’s been a drastic fall from grace for the 27-year-old, who helped Napoli end their gruelling 33-year wait for the Serie A title last season.

Antonio Conte previously exiled Ndombele from his Spurs squad in the summer of 2022 ahead of the pre-season tour of South Korea while Ange Postecoglou later gave the France international the chance to turn over a new leaf upon arrival at the club.

But Ndombele failed to leave a lasting impression upon the Aussie and now there appears to be no way back for him at Spurs barring a miraculous turnaround. Spurs will have several key decisions to make on loan players at the end of the season.

Japhet Tanganga, currently at Millwall, is out of contract in June but Tottenham do have the option to extend his deal by an additional 12 months. Genoa will also have the chance to sign Djed Spence for around £8.5m if he makes an impression in Serie A.

Joe Rodon has excelled on loan at Championship high-flyers Leeds United but the Whites do not have a permanent transfer option. Young talent Ashley Phillips has also enjoyed regular football at Plymouth Argyle but he will not be sold and is considered a big talent for the future.

Striker duo Troy Parrott and Alejo Veliz will also return from their respective spells with Excelsior Rotterdam and Sevilla. Meanwhile, Spurs are already showing early interest in Genoa attacker Albert Gudmundsson ahead of the summer transfer window.
