Courtois accuses Tedesco of lying that he wasn’t given the chance for games

Thibaut Courtois has accused Belgium coach Domenico Tedesco of lying.

Tedesco recently stated that he is doing everything he can to bring Courtois back into the national team setup after the goalkeeper was left frustrated at being snubbed for the captaincy against Austria and Estonia last year.

Courtois reacted to Tedesco’s latest comments by posting three Pinocchio emojis, referring to the coach as a liar.

Although Courtois hasn’t played for Real Madrid this season because of a cruciate ligament injury but there are concerns over his future with the Belgium squad.

The rift between Courtois and Tedesco appears to show no signs of healing.

Courtois has made 102 appearances for Belgium having made his debut in 2011.

Romelu Lukaku wore the captain’s armband against Austria and Estonia. Courtois missed the latter game, with Tedesco having claimed that the shot-stopper was offended at having not been given the captaincy against Austria.

It remains to be seen if the former Chelsea goalkeeper will feature again for Belgium. Courtois is expected to miss Euro 2024 because of his injury.

Courtois has stated that he hasn’t received an explanation from Tedesco as to why he wasn’t given the captaincy.

In addition, Courtois has claimed that Tedesco and the Belgian football federation haven’t given him enough appreciation.

Tedesco has signed a two-year contract extension that will see him remain at Belgium manager until the 2026 World Cup.
