AC Milan players are confronted by the club’s ultras after their defeat in UEL

AC Milan’s players were confronted by club Ultras after their elimination from the Europa League.

Stefano Pioli’s side were knocked out the competition after a 2-1 second leg defeat to Roma on Thursday night saw the tie end 3-1 on aggregate to their league rivals.

It was the Rossoneri’s third match without a win and – with the Milan derby looming – their supporters made sure that their frustrations were felt.

After the match at the Stadio Olimpico, the AC Milan players went over to the travelling fans and were confronted by the club’s ultras.

The players and staff stood and were addressed by the fans, who vented their frustration after a goalless evening for Milan.

Chants of ‘grow some balls’ aimed at the Milan players were reportedly heard coming from the away supporters after the match.

The Italian giants will take on rivals Inter Milan in their next match on Monday night before travelling to Juventus next Sunday.

Currently, Pioli’s side sit second in the Serie A table – 14 points behind Inter but six points above the Old Lady.

On the night, Gianluca Mancini and Paulo Dybala found the back of the net for Daniele De Rossi’s side before Matteo Gabbia scored a late consolation.

Dybala’s effort was the pick of the bunch, as he curled a left-footed effort into the far corner of the net to give his side breathing space in the match.

Meanwhile, it was Mancini’s second goal of the tie, having scored at the San Siro to hand his side an advantage heading into the return leg.

In between their Europa League quarter-finals, Milan were held to a 3-3 draw with Sassuolo and will be looking to return to winning ways against Inter.

Following their victory over Milan, Roma will face Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen in the semi-finals of the competition – with Marseille and Atalanta to face-off in the next leg.

English sides Liverpool and West Ham crashed out of the competition, after 3-1 defeats to Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen respectively.
