Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale ‘is being eyed by a Premier League rival’

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is a target for a Premier League rival this summer, according to reports.

The England international has fallen out of favour at the Emirates this season having been the club’s first choice since joining the Gunners in 2021.

The 25-year-old has played just five Premier League matches this term as he continues to play second fiddle to David Raya.

However, Ramsdale could return to first team scene next season, with Wolves keen to sign him according to The Sun.

Gary O’Neil is likely to be in the market for a new No1 as Jose Sa is a target for a number of clubs in Saudi Arabia.

Should he move then Sa would be joining a cohort of former Wolves players who swapped England for the Middle East, with previous club captain Ruben Neves one of the biggest names to leave the English top-flight in favour of a £47m transfer to Al Hilal.

Sa would be in store for a huge pay increase if he moves to the oil-rich nation and Wolves want to recoup around £40m for the Portugal international.

Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher and Sunderland’s Anthony Patterson are also said to be of interest to Wolves alongside Ramsdale.

Meanwhile, Newcastle are also in the running to sign Ramsdale after they reignited their interest.

Asked about the Magpies’ interest earlier this month, Mikel Arteta said: I’m not going to comment on those things’.

Arteta was then asked whether there is a suggestion that Ramsdale could still be at Arsenal next season, to which he replied: ‘Suggestion? There is a big reality that Aaron is here because he is our player and has a contract.
